History of the Children's Clean Water Festival
Willamette Valley, Oregon

1994 - "First annual CCWF" (500 kids)
            DEQ Coordinator

1995 - "Dive Into The Wide World of Water" (750 kids)
            DEQ Coordinator

1996 - "Oregon Children's Clean Water Festival" (1000 kids)
            PSU Coordinator

1997 - "A Little Water Paints A Big Picture" (2000 kids)
            PSU Coordinator
            First year at PCC-Rock Creek.

1998 - "Soak Up Some Knowledge" (2000 kids)
            PSU Coordinator for both
            First year of Educator Water Workshop Series for teachers,
            coordinated in conjunction with Children's Festival.

1999 - "All One Water" (1800 kids)
            PSU Coordinator
            First year for formal organizing committee of multiple agencies and organizations.

2000 - "Clean Water: The Sign Of The Times" (1600 kids)
            Organizing committee strengthening.

2001 - "Kids H2O Kids"
            (1200 kids attend / 150 kids presenting activities)
            Coalition of Clean Water Festival Providers (CCWFP) formed and strengthening.

2002 - "Clean Water Festival: Where Youth Are Making Waves"
            (1300 kids attend / 250 kids presenting in leadership roles)
            CCWFP coordinated (PSU drops out because of funding cuts).

2003 - "Clean Water Festival: Where Youth Are Making Waves"
            CCWFP coordinated.
            1000 kids attend from 36 classes in 15 schools,
            4 stage show performers,
            48 exhibitors at 29 exhibits,
            70 presenters in 31 classrooms,
            42 volunteers from 2 groups.
            State budget cuts to schools result in shortened school year
            and withdrawal of Portland schools from festival for 2003.

2004 - "Clean Water Festival: Where Youth Are Making Waves"
            CCWFP coordinated.
            1000 kids attend from 37 classes in 20 schools,
            3 stage show performers,
            62 exhibitors at 24 exhibits,
            64 presenters in 30 classrooms,
            44 organizations represented,
            45 volunteers from 7 groups.
            Festival held at PCC-Sylvania with smaller theater for stage shows on 4/16/2004
            because PCC-Rock Creek uses their campus to make up for snow days in January.

2005 - "Clean Water Festival: Where Youth Are Making Waves"
            CCWFP coordinated.
            1100 kids attend from 40 classes in 22 schools,
            3 stage show performers,
            65 exhibitors at 30 exhibits,
            70 presenters in 32 classrooms,
            50 organizations represented,
            45 volunteers from 3 groups,
            and many individuals.
            Festival held at PCC-Sylvania with large theater for stage shows on 4/14/2005.

2006 - "Clean Water Festival: Where Youth Are Making Waves"
            CCWFP coordinated.
            1270 kids attend from 47 classes in 25 schools,
            3 stage show performers,
            65 exhibitors at 30 exhibits,
            85 presenters in 34 classrooms,
            52 organizations represented,
            55 volunteers from 4 groups,
            and many individuals.
            Festival held at PCC-Sylvania with large theater for stage shows on 4/13/2006.

Organization involvement: approximately 75 agencies, non-profits, private sector businesses, and watershed councils participate each year since 1997. (For the first 3 years there were about 25 organizations involved).

Total teacher participants to date:         568 teachers

Total youth participants to date:        15,920 children
